The Department of Water Resources, through the National Water Resources Management Center 1 (NWRC 1) and Regional Water Resources Office 1 Chiang Mai, participated in a meeting to prepare for and address flooding and drought problems in Chiang Mai Province in 2026, at the Smart Water Operations Center, Irrigation Office 1.

Ms. Supatson Seemued, Director of the Regional Water Resources Office 1, assigned Lieutenant Commander Sairung Klunkeaw, Director of Hydrology Division 1, Chiang Mai, to attend a meeting to prepare for and mitigate floods and droughts in 2026 at the Smart Water Operations Center, Irrigation Office 1. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Rattapol Naradisorn, Governor of Chiang Mai Province. The objective was to establish an incident command center covering all levels and to utilize the Thai Water Plan system with an Early Warning system to monitor water situations. This will be coupled with coordinated efforts from highway departments and local administrative organizations to quickly remove water obstructions and implement measures to address flooding in key urban and economic zones such as Chiang Mai City, Hang Dong District, and surrounding municipalities, in order to protect areas and assist the public in a timely manner.
