Watershed conditions

Kok River Basin It is the third of 25 major river basins in Thailand. Originating in the northern mountains of Kyaing Tong State, Myanmar, it flows into Thailand at the Kok River channel in Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province. It then flows eastward through Mae Ai District and into Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, before continuing northeast into Chiang Saen District and finally flowing into the Mekong River at Ban Sop Kok, Ban Saew Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province. Its length is approximately 285 kilometers. The drainage basin area within Thailand is 7,300.41 square kilometers.

Mekong River Basin (Northern Region) The Mekong River is the second of 25 major river basins in the country. It is an international river originating in the Tibetan Plateau, flowing through southern China, eastern Myanmar, northern Thailand (specifically Chiang Saen, Chiang Khong, and Wiang Kaen districts), northeastern Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia before emptying into the South China Sea in southern Vietnam. The northern Mekong basin in Thailand is surrounded by mountain ranges, covering areas in Chiang Rai and Phayao provinces, with a total area of 10,027.93 square kilometers.

Subbasin division

Kok River Basin The area is divided into four sub-basins: the Mae Fang Basin, the Mae Lao Basin, the Mae Suai Basin, and the lower Kok River Basin.

Mekong River Basin (North) The river basin is divided into 8 sub-basins: the Upper Mekong River Basin, the Mae Chan (Nam Kham) River Basin, the Upper Ing River Basin, the Middle Ing River Basin, the Phung River Basin, the Mae Lao River Basin, the Lower Ing River Basin, and the Second Mekong River Basin.
